Banyuwangi hotels & places to stay

I actually unintentionally booked this hotel. I was on the trip to Bali however it was already to late and i decided to stay in this hotel. The hotel has a very beautifull decoration, i note a couple of beautifull jejer gandrung dance statue. The hotel has lot of greeneries and feel so excotic. The room was fabolous,clean and conformtable. However there is no bathtub or maybe i made a mistake on my reservation.The staffs are very nice and you can borrow a bicycle to ride it around the hotel. The pool and the playground for kids was decent. However this location is quite far from ketapang port. Althought it is very recommended,i am not sure if i will go there again since everytime i was in banyuwangi i need to cath up the boat schedule to bali as soon as possible. Otherwise,this place is perfect.

I spent 4 days and 3 nights at Ketapang Indah Hotel. When I arrived on sunday afternoon, the hotel was quite and only a few guess. The hotel yard was full with coconut trees, flowers and green grass. It's very similar with typical balinese villa. It was beautiful. The hotel has a clean warm pool, just perfect for playing with my 4yo. Beyond the pool, there are beach access that open between 6am - 5pm. The beach has a short shore and a black soft sand. Altough the beach was not a private beach, it was a quite beach. During my stay, it seems I'm and my 4yo were the only person that enjoying the beach. Occasionally, there also fisherman who fishes on the shore. My room was on the new building. It has a king size bed, comfortable bedding and two pillow. The room has a porch with a set of table and chair. It's just perfect for relaxing and enjoying the breeze of sea air. Too bad, the hotel was currently expanding and building new room, so we could hear the noise. The room was equipt with a decent tv, air conditioner, a safe, shower with hot water and toilet. Too bad the room did not have a refrigerator for keeping cool beverage. I was also only given one access key instead of two, like most hotel do. And the electricity was off if the access key is taken out from the slot. So I can not charge my electronics while I'm out of the room. The breakfast was quite decent with various menus that changes everyday. The local food was also delicious. The service was ok, but there are rooms for improvement. The bell boy and security guards was very helpful. I was lucky to get agoda best deal and for less than $100 for 4 days and 3 nights, it was the best hotel experience for my family vacation. And if you like Bali and wanted to experience a more exotic beaches and mountain, then Banyuwangi is a must visit destination. After all, Banyuwangi is only 4 hour away from bali or 30 minutes flight. You can also use cruise from Tanjung Benoa in Bali to Banyuwangi harbour in 2 hour s

We enjoyed a very pleasant stay in Kalibaru Cottages en route to Sukamade Turtle Beach in Meru Betiri National Park. We booked our trip to Sukamade Turtle Beach also through Kalibaru Cottages. The trip to the Turtle Beach was very well organised with lots of free additional excursions by the guide to a farmer processing it's own sugercane, tradtional market visit, hiking to Teluk Ijo (Green Bay) and more while travelling to and from Sukamade. On the return trip we got dropped-off at Ketapang for the ferry to Bali at our request. Both driver and guide were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful throughout these 2 wonderful days, highly recommended!

It's a new hotel in Banyuwangi area where is the city near Kawah Ijen. When I arrived the hotel, I simply asked the staff make an arrangement to Kawah Ijen for me. The staff was very friendly and helpful with patience. With the location in just an hour away to Kawah Ijent, I got up at 3am to meet the driver who waited in front of the hotel to pick me up. The hotel itself was very clean with a samll pool in the court yard, and the dining area in my opinion, was just what I expected, the modern southeastern style. The room isnt very big but enough for a solo traveller. The bed is clean and very comfortable. With all the good stuff here, the price was unbelievably reasonable. I think this hotel is the perfect choice to stay if you are planning a trip from Mount Bromo to Bali.

Pros: Love everything about this hotel. The rooms are divided into cottages, with the inside layouted like a usual hotel room. Big wardrobe, cable TV, AC, water heater, big semi-open bathroom, complete toiletries and sandal. The swimming pool is open 24 hours, and the beautiful lamps surrounding it makes it ideal for a night swim before bed. BIG CONS: The view is really great, you can see both sunrise and sunset as the hotel is facing the Bali strait and you can actually see Bali Island from your room. We eventually stayed one more night in Banyuwangi just to enjoy relaxing at this hotel. Cons: The only thing I found uncomfortable is the fact that there is a door connecting our room with the next room (as one cottage building is divided into two rooms). This way, sounds of people talking can be heard.

Really love the view, the pool and the room Except for no refrigerator on room to put my personal skincare😂 stuff. The staff really helpfull and make sure you feel comfortable on your stay. I loved how Mas Hellmy bring us a solution to move us to higher floor to avoid noise since some part of hotel still on construction. Think this hotel will be the best hotel for oceanview in Banyuwangi area. ❤️❤️

It is such a wonderful place to stay. If you are happen to be around this area, kalibaru, banyuwangi, kawah ijen, mount bromo, don't forget to sleep at vila kendi. They give you peace of mind with reasonable price yet you get high class architecture and world class design interior and exterior with home feelings so you really can relax yourself. Enjoy your time there and be grateful. You can order lunch and/or dinner there so you don't need to search outside food. It is really a place to look again inside yourself, be quiet, be content, a place for you to think about life, what you are going to do next, and many more. I'm really blessed to ever taste their service.

We stayed for two nights, using the hotel as a base for visiting nearby Kawah Ijen. The hotel is conveniently located 15 minutes away from the Bali ferry terminal and the Surabaya train station (Banyuwangi Bari). We stayed in a spacious garden bungalow with a large bed - and enjoyed views over the hotel gardens. The bungalow had an unusual but very nice outdoor bathroom behind the room itself and entirely private. The staff was pleasant and helpful with all our enqueries and organized day-tours for us which we could pay through the hotel. We were picked up at the ferry terminal and dropped off at the train station for free. They were also attentive and provided efficient service at mealtimes. The food was good and ample and they also offered food for take-away during day outings from the hotel. The location of the hotel is on a hilltop with views both towards the Bali Strait and the mountains. A pool with sun-loungers is set in the middle of the gardens and is large enough for swimming. The drive to the starting point of the Kawah Ijen walk is about 2 hrs during day-time - probably less in the early morning/night. It was a scenic and interesting drive and we would not hesitate to recommend this as a base for other visitors to the Kawah Ijen. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

We had tried some hotels in Banyuwangi, but Manyar Garden Hotel is definitely the best hotel in this area. The staff is kind and helpful. We can rent a boat to West Bali beach to enjoy a wonderful moment and we even had our private lunch in the white sandy beach where nobody but us is around. The hotel has a large garden area, and we can listen to sound of birds at anytime during the day. The hotel also has a good nightlife to be enjoyed, we went to La Gallus bar and discotheque. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable. The environment is also safe and we can comfortably park our car in front of our room. The breakfast and the food here tasted great and relatively cheap, so we never eat outside the hotel. We will surely stay in Manyar Garden Hotel again when we go to Banyuwangi.

This was the last stop on our trip to Indonesia and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Maya and Djoko were wonderful hosts and from the moment we made the booking kept in touch by email to make sure everything went smoothly, warning us which station to get off the train from and then meeting us there to bring us to the homestay. They also arranged a car and driver for our trip up to Ijen Crater. The bungalows are lovely and the garden setting is stunning. Bear in mind that this is a homestay and you are expected to wash and clean up after yourself. Other than breakfast there is no food available but it can be ordered in from a nearby restaurant and there is a plentiful supply of free filtered water and cheap soft drinks and beer (trust me, beer at an affordable price is rare in Indonesia). The only caveat is that it is quite a long distance from the centre of Banyuwangi and there is not much in the immediate vicinity. If we had been staying longer, we would probably have got bikes!

It will be very hard for me to review this hotel without some bias because by boyfriend proposed to me there. But the fact that he chose Ijen Resort to propose it testatment to how stunning and romantic this hotel is. It is worth noting that the road up to the resort from the main road is atrocious though so if you are getting a taxi from the train station then make sure it is quite a good one to withstand the 4 wheel drive track that the road becomes for the last 4 km leading up to the resort.

Good big clean pool to swim but no lounge chair to relax, just normal chairs and umbrellas, bed is confortable, good air-conditionning, daily housekeeping done well, staff is polite and good service, but room is a bit small and no window (just one window very high on the wall), shower is good but bathroom is quite small (sink is small). Food at the restaurant was good, breakfast is indonesian style with tofu and vegetarian options only. Found some ants in the bathroom one night, but told the staff and somebody came to clean after 5 minutes. Would have been great to provide towels for the swimming pool, and to have a kettle. Located 1 hour from Banyuwangi and from Pulau Merah, Pantai Pancer. Good place to stay to visit these south beaches. Very pleasant stay.

Our stay at Catimor Hotel was ruined by the rude, unhelpful and deceitful staff. Naturally we booked this place for a base to see the volcano. The room itself was ok but the staff let the hotel down by being incredibly rude and providing us with false information in order to extract more money from us. Be aware (as the hotel staff may tell you otherwise) you can only access the volcano from 1am-12pm midday! The hotel is clearly supplied with a constant stream of clients from the packaged tours. I believe this has lead the staff to become complacent and indifferent to their customer's experience.

The place is literally in front of the train station so it can’t be more perfect when you’re coming for Ijen. The place is definitely clean. The whole family is super nice but a big thumb up to Indra and Linda that make us feel really good. There were super friendly and very accommodating, especially because I thought there was hot shower everywhere but actually no, the shared bathroom only had cold water so when I asked them about it they offered me to wait until the private room/bathroom was available after check out and let me shower there. That’s customer service :) They rented us scooters and masks for Ijen, and let us sleep a little bit after check out the next day. Would recommend 100% and would definitely go there if in Banyuwangi again. Thank you for everything!!!

Host is friendly and extremely helpful. They personally picked us up late at night when we told them we would be arriving late due to bad traffic jam to Banyuwangi. The house is clean and tidy. Room is equipped with basic facility like standing fan and power plug. If you are used to air-conditioned room, the room may get a little bit warm. On the day of check-out, the host offered to send us to the harbour. They also helped us with the purchase of ferry ticket to Bali. Saving us the hassle of having to deal with the unfamiliar ticket procurement process. We’re lucky to have met such a wonderful host that made our stay in Banyuwangi a really pleasant one.

The owner and his wife were really nice and helpful, but we didnt ecpect no flush and no sink (not even thinking about such basic things) for that price!! But the room and bath were very clean, same as the whole accomodation! Theres a Gate that lets You feel safe! The bed was horrible uncomfortable soft and hard pillows, but that depends on what you like! After a sleepless night for ijen even we got some sleep;) Breakfast is delicious! Though the owner always helped you and was really nice, he helped us with the public Bus to Denpasar, but first he didnt tell us that the bus stops in Mengwi (awful to get from there to denpasar or kuta, commonly you have to take a taxi for 200.000) and second he drove us to the ferry station (for 50.000) and dropped us off at his „friend“, „travel agent for public bus“ and told us the price for public bus is 100.000 (if you book it with his friend who is waiting for you there), but actually public bus is only 40.000.... So all in all they all want to earn some more Money with tourists but it has been quite comfortable not to look for the public bus, but it summed up in the end...50.000+2x100.000+200.000 A good place to stay!

I stayed at this home stay 3 nights as a solo backpacker. The location is very close to Karangasem Station (almost 1 minute to reach it out by walk). My room is very clean, cozy and the bathroom (inside the room) is also great. Mr. Agus (the owner) is super friendly, he speak English perfectly and he can guide you to Mt. Ijen or any destinations in Banyuwangi if you need it. His whole family is also warm and caring. They have good knowledge about nice destinations in Banyuwangi and surrounding area. Nitha Homestay itself is close to Boom Beach, Pulau Santen - Syariah Beach, Cemara Beach, Villa Solong Beach, Watu Dodol Beach and Bangsring Beach. I rented a motor cycle from a store beside this home stay for bike-backpacking to those beaches (I love beaches!). The price is very reasonable - include delicious breakfast every day! Wow, I highly recommend this home stay to anyone without hesitation.

The set up of the resort is beautiful. Including the pool area which is the best part of the resort. But the rooms don't have wifi or a tv so if the weather is not good, or you just want to spend some time in the hotel itself, there isn't much to do. The resort is also quite far away from the main tourist points (Ijen, Menjangen island). Staff is very helpful and the food was delicious. Overall, good value for money. Wouldn't suggest it if you are traveling solo as it can get lonely / not many people to interact with.

Before we getting here, Thailia was so nice and helpful to help us find the way to get to the homestay. Also, they tried their best to teach us about the transportation after arriving to Bali, the room was nice and the bed was so comfy. Although there was no hot water for shower, it was still fine to me as we were just staying for one night to Mt. Ijen. Btw, they also helped us for a tour with a very bargining price. Best host ever! 🤗
