Near Center hotels & places to stay

We were welcomed and cared for from the moment we arrived late from the train station. The food at the resort was the best of our two week trip and we ate every meal there. My granddaughter and I have special dietary needs and they accommodated us at every turn. We easily arranged daily activities at the front desk and had incredible adventures. Be sure to climb up to the observation walk-ways and lookouts. The views are magnificent and should not be missed. We loved staying in the treehouse. The room was comfortable and well equipped. We both want to go back!

My partner and I stayed in a tree house and we loved it. The tree house was cute and clean. There was no AC but there was a giant fan that worked great! The bathroom was clean minus a few little ants, but while living in a tree, I expected that! The staff was lovely and very helpful. They helped us book an overnight trip to a floating village (highly recommend!) and they were overall very nice. The resort’s restaurant was great! Very convenient for breakfast especially. They also did our laundry for us and that was much much appreciated! Thanks for a great time Baan Kaoh Sok!

The setting and location are lovely. Staff is very sweet, but it is hard to get a clear explanation on questions (language barrier), yet this non-info is given with a very positive attitude and a smile and eventually you figure it all out. The day tour to the lake was excellent, not crowded (14 people max) and guide was good. Price is same as everywhere. The rooms are very small. Not a chair to sit inside, nor place to store a bag. Do not pay to upgrade to the honeymoon suite, it is 50% square footage of bathroom and bedroom remains same small size as the standard tree house. Unless you are looking to take a bath in the jungle, then choose this room. Overall we had a nice experience.

i arrived at nung house very early in the early morning since my bus arrived at 4:45 am. shortly thereafter i was shuttled to nung house. i woke up the hotel manager who promptly showed me to my room. now i would like to add that this is thailand, not new york city and there are some things that you have to endure when traveling - bugs, sometimes less than clean accomodations, etc... the room was very nice by thai standards. i must comment that the bed was very comfortable and that has been (lack of comfortable bed) a big complaint of many places i have stayed in thailand. the resort is quiet and peaceul, the staff are friendly and gladly help you book excursions, adding them to your bill so you can pay eerything as you check out. it is only a 5 minute walk to khao sok national park and in between is the town o khao sok for all your ammenities that the hotel doesn't proide. nung house is very affordable compared to many of the other resorts i looked at when booking. and please don't think just because you are paying upward of baht for your resort that it is going to be reflected in the quality of your stay. i walked through many other resort hotels when i was there and all oered littel in the way of improements from what i was getting at nung house. in fact at one of the most expensie resort hotels i happened upon a ery angry australian guy who was yelling at the staff because the water had not been fixed in his room for 2 days. the only thing that i found to not be so great at the hotel was the restaurant, but there is a lovely little restaurant in the town that serves outstanding food and for a very reasonable price. i would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

I stayed here for my last night in the Khao Sok National Park area, after having stayed at another resort that had fan-only rooms with an open gap between the walls and ceiling. I was so delighted to come to this resort and be greeted by the super nice Miss Sia. The heat is so strong and humid in the area, it can get you really tired if you are exposed to it all day long, even a fan won't do enough for you. This is why I was so happy to be in a room that was properly sealed, made out of concrete, and with air conditioning. After 2 days of lots of activities at the national park, I wanted to get some good rest and this resort was what I exactly what I needed: soft, comfortable beds; air conditioning; great shower; tasty and cheap food; great staff. For all of you who are thinking to book a resort without air conditioning at Khao Sok, let me tell you something: it's worth paying a bit more and sleeping well and feeling good in air conditioning after a full day in the heat! Recommended

Our stay at the resort was just wonderful, thanks to the lovely owner of the hotel. When we arrived he explained everything to us and was very welcoming. The bungalow was big and very clean. We also booked a trip in the resort to the lake, which was really nice. I would definitely come back, we felt very welcomed :) All the restaurants and shops were in walking distance and also a swimming spot was near the resort.

One of the best places we have ever stayed! The houses are spacious and have this big glass windows that makes you feel like you are in the forrest, but with air conditioner! The staff...the nicest people ever! Really helpful and they make everything to make your stay even better. Its a little far from the restaurants but they have a van and can drop you off. We book our lake tour with them and stayed in a raft house for one night. It was beautiful. I would love to go back to this hotel!

Very very nice place settled right in with nature. The river is beautiful to swim in and the resort is well looked after. Tree houses are awesome. Clean but a bit overpriced I think. Still good value for money. Waterfall showers are in most houses and a awesome feature. Owners are very friendly and the food they serve is by far some of the best I ever had in Thailand (I lived here for 16 years) If you like nature this is the place. Only downside is the distance to shops if you dont have a car.

We had booked only one night after reading some of the reviews, but ended up staying 4 nights total. Staff overall was friendly and helpful, some didn't speak the best English but the manager did and was always around. We booked two different tours through the hotel (1 day lake tour and full day jungle trek) and both were fantastic. Received a 30% discount off our room for each night we booked a tour. Rooms were clean, beds pretty uncomfortable but we just slept on top of the duvet and it was fine. Mosquito nets and fan in rooms, was quite cool at night however and we didn't end up needing the fan overnight. Bathroom was clean and shower was hot. Wifi in main lounge/restaurant area only but it was pretty fast. Overall a great stay, would go back for sure.

Mr. Kong & his family are the most genuine ppl we've ever encountered druing our 6 week journey in South East Asia. They're so much more than a great host; they take care of you like you're their family. Mama cooks great but cheap food, and Kong makes sure that you have the best time there without getting ripped off. You shouldn't miss the lake tour with Kong if you're looking for an adventure. The room was very nice & cozy; a comfortable bed (the mosquito net's awesome!), nice hot shower, such quiet beautiful surroundings. of course it's not a 5 star hotel; if you're a type to whine about your broken nails or those cute little lizards crawling into your bungalow, skip Khaosok. Otherwise you will have a great there, especially with this awesome family. It's def. the best accommodation for such a low budget anywhere in the world.

Smiley is damn near my favorite hotel on our trip around Thailand. We stayed in the stone bungalows which were excellent! I loved swinging peacefully in the hammock while looking at the mist snake its way around the limestone cliffs. No air condition but it was not needed. Staff was excellent and there is an adorable scruffle dog on site to play with. I would give this hotel 3.5 stars realistically but it is a 4.8 stars in my personal opinion. Love this place and will be booking again when we go back. Oh and eat at Nong Sue's at the bottom of the road on the left. Best in Khao Sok!

It's like a luxury resort in the middle of the jungle for a really cheap price. Very friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. Good food. Clean and new accommodation. We also recommend to book activities and excursions with them. The elephant experience (retirement) has been one beautiful experience, fortunately we've seen nothing of 'bad elephant tourism'. We wish we could stay more long!

Good location, 10 min walking from the khao sok entrance, amazing food definitely reccomend eating here, wifi only worked in some areas, room was clean but there was a lot of bugs but that is expected when you stay at a bungalow near a national park. Host was so nice, extremely helpful in tour and transportation booking and was able to meet all of our needs. Motorbike rentals are available for 300 baht/day

The staff were very helpful. We organized a day trip to the lake with the guest house. When the guide who picked us up made a mistake by charging us an extra 200 baht for park entry (it had been included in the price with the guest house) the staff at the guest house settled the problem straight away upon our return and quickly got us our re-imbursement. They were very helpful and gave honest straightforward help in organizing any activity we wanted.

Needs improvement with cleaning in the rooms & surrounding area under homes. Towels and pillow slips had holes in them! Only one staff member was pleasant. We are aged between 67 & 69 very healthy active but not attempt was given to help us up the large stairs with our luggage. The owner needs to up grade or they will loose business. Also we booked and paid online & it was confirmed by email but staff did not know we were coming. Had to show the not so pleasant staff member twice that we had paid.

We highly recommend a stay in this resort because of the beautiful environment,nice cabines,best Thai food we've eaten and the friendliest people we've met in Thailand,they are relaxt and very friendly,breakfast was good,the resort ia located very close to Khao Sok park,but quite far from the lake(75 km),we had a trekking from 4 hours,which was nice,but we would have liked to see more,but we only booked 1 day because of the raining season and bad weather.It was a pity to leave.

We went for the most basic of the rooms - still, very nice! Clean and comfortable. Actually one of the nicer places I stayed while backpacking Asia especially when taking the price into consideration. The only slight problem was the internet - it didn't reach our bungalow (but I think this was stated when we booked) If we had gone for the more deluxe bungalow it would have reached. Not a big issue, you can just sit in the restaurant if you really need to use the wifi!

Located right next to the National Park entrance. The place is extremely clean. Lovely staff, I felt like I was staying with a family. Staff speak really good English, they helped me to organise a visit to khao sok national park and also with the buses to continue my trip. I was in a fan room with a beautiful balcony and nice views over a gumtree field. Definitely the place to stay in Khao Sok!
